    Since 2014, the GIZ Cono Sur Energy Cluster has been working with the Chilean Ministry of Energy to promote renewable energy, energy efficiency and renewable hydrogen.

     

    Two projects are involved in the organization of this event:

    Team Europe Project for the Development of Renewable Hydrogen in Chile

    The Team Europe project Development of Renewable Hydrogen in Chile is co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK), and implemented by GIZ and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

     

    International Hydrogen Ramp-Up Program (H2Uppp)

    The International Hydrogen Ramp-up Programme (H2Uppp) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) promotes projects and market development for green hydrogen in selected developing and emerging countries as part of the National Hydrogen Strategy.

    CORFO's Committee for the Development of the Green Hydrogen Industry and its Derivatives

    CORFO plays an enabling role in the creation of new industries that contribute to the country's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050 established in the Framework Law on Climate Change. Green hydrogen and its derivatives can contribute 21% to the reduction of CO2e emissions. In 2022, the Green Hydrogen Industry Development Committee was created with the aim of accelerating the sustainable development of the H2V industry and its derivatives in Chile. This committee supports the implementation of the National Green Hydrogen Strategy, develops action plans for the Strategy, manages State initiatives and programs for the development of H2V, and supports the design of promotion instruments, productive or business innovation and financing, aimed at promoting a local industry of technology and service providers for the green hydrogen industry for both export and domestic use.

    Ministry of Energy of Chile

    It is the government institution responsible for developing and coordinating, in a transparent and participatory manner, the different plans, policies and regulations for the development of the country's energy sector, and thus ensuring that all Chileans can access energy safely and at reasonable prices.

    CORFO

    The Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO) works throughout Chile, supporting entrepreneurship, innovation and competitiveness, also strengthening the creation of local value, the formation of human capital and the development of technological capabilities, with the main objective of promoting more and better opportunities to contribute to the sustainable economic development of the country.

    H2V Biobío

    The Biobío Regional Strategic Green Hydrogen Program (H2V Biobío) is financed by the State of Chile and is made up of a Governance composed of private companies, public entities and academia, and an executive team.

    Its purpose is to implement, in collaboration with the key actors in the territory, the short, medium and long-term actions of its Roadmap, to develop the Green Hydrogen industry in the Biobío Region, contribute to the decarbonization of the productive sectors and move towards a new development model, more sustainable and knowledge-intensive.

    Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK)

    The Ministry is a commissioning partner of two projects of the GIZ Energy Cluster, namely the H2Uppp programme and the TeamEurope Renewable Hydrogen Development Project.

    Biobío Regional Government

    The mission of the Biobío Regional Government is to achieve greater economic, social and cultural development of the Biobío Region and its inhabitants with sustainability and equity, through the decentralisation process, strengthening social capital for the generation of public, private, academic and civil society alliances for the formulation and implementation of policies and instruments for territorial planning and management and the management of regional public investment, recognising the territorial dimension with a focus on gender and social diversity.
